2026 curriculum note
The revised Junior Cycle MFL specification starts with incoming 1st Years in September 2026.
The revised specification applies to students beginning first year in September 2026 and later cohorts. It places clear emphasis on communicative language proficiency, the Student Language Portfolio and oral development.
Curriculum information should always be checked against the current NCCA Junior Cycle MFL guidance.
- Revised specification broadly aligns outcomes with the CEFR A band (A1–A2).
- Communication, culture and language awareness remain connected rather than isolated.
- Students benefit from regular speaking practice, not only last-minute exam preparation.
