Junior Cycle Spanish

Junior Cycle Spanish speaking: build confidence from the start.

Regular speaking supports vocabulary, pronunciation and communicative confidence throughout Junior Cycle.

Short speaking routines work.

Students do not need long speeches to make progress. Repeated short routines create a base for more spontaneous communication.

  • Answer familiar personal questions in full sentences.
  • Reuse topic vocabulary in new mini-dialogues.
  • Practise asking follow-up questions as well as answering.
  • Record 30–60 second responses to hear progress over time.

For the revised MFL specification.

The revised Junior Cycle MFL specification applies to students entering first year from September 2026 and places clear emphasis on communication, the Student Language Portfolio and oral proficiency.
